Learn to configure autoresponders in cPanel

Email auto-responders allow you to respond to the emails automatically. This article will explain how to configure e-mail auto-responders in cPanel so that your site can send the automatic responses to the emails. The common example of auto-responder is the mails when you see after filling any form which says “Thank you for your response. You cannot reply to this mail”. You can also set an out-of-office message that informs the sender that the recipients of the mail are not available.

# How to add an auto-responder?

You are allowed to set more than one auto-responder for a single mail account. Plaintext or HTML can be used in an autoresponse message that you can choose from a wide range of character sets.

Add an autoresponder in cPanel, by performing the following steps :

1. On the cPanel home screen, go to the Email section and click on Autoresponders.

2. Click on Add Autoresponder.

3. Go to Character set and under it select any character set that you want the autoresponder to use.

4. In the text for Interval, enter the interval in hours that the autoresponder will have to wait to send multiple responses to the same email address.

5. In the text box for Email, enter the email account that the autoresponders send messages for.

6. In the text box for From, enter your name or email address. You also have the alternative to leave this field blank.

7. In the text box for Subject, type the subject line of the autoresponse message.

8. If you wish to include HTML in the message body, then select the checkbox for HTML.

9. In the text box for Body, enter the message body.

10. In order to start the autoresponse mail, select Immediately or Custom under Start.

11. In order to stop the autoresponse mail, select Immediately or Custom under Stop.

12. Click on Create or Modify.

# How to edit an autoresponder?

Whenever you want to modify the message body that means the message content or account details in an autoresponder you can do it easily. To perform editing in autoresponder follow these steps :

1. On the cPanel home screen, go to the Email section and then click on Autoresponders.

2. Go to Current Autoresponders and under it click Edit for the autoresponder that you wish to edit.

3. Make the changes that you want, to the autoresponder.

4. Click on Create or Modify.

# How to delete an autoresponder?

Want to delete an autoresponder because it is no longer in use?

Well, you can do it by performing the following steps :

1. On the cPanel home screen, go to the Email section and click on Autoresponders.

2. Go to Current Autoresponders, and under it click on Delete for the autoresponder that you want to delete.

3. Click on Delete Autoresponder to confirm your deletion task.
