How to Find My SMTP Server IP Address?

What is my SMTP server IP address? How can I find the SMTP server IP address?

SMTP stands for Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP). This protocol is used to send email from email programs like Microsoft Outlook, Windows Mail. The web addresses used for SMTP servers are like “mail.servername.com” or “smtp.servername.com”. In order to send emails you need to configure the mail program using the SMTP server ip address. If you know the name of the SMTP server you can easily retrieve the SMTP server IP address by following the below steps:-

  • Click on the “Start” menu, type “run” press enter then type “cmd” press enter (type without quotes)
  • A command prompt will open in a new window
  • Type ping space smtp server name. For example “ping mail.servername.com” and press “enter”. This command try to contact the SMTP server through IP address. You will get the below response;

Pinging mail.servername.com [x.x.x.x] with 32 bytes of data:

The “x.x.x.x” will be IP address of your SMTP server. Use this IP address as your outgoing mail server while configuring the email program.
