Learn to configure Remote MySQL access in cPanel

This article explains how to use cPanel to allow external hosts to access your MySQL databases. You can use remote client applications to connect to your databases directly simply when remote host access is enabled.

# Steps to add host access

1. Log in to cPanel.

2. On the cPanel home screen in the Databases section, click on Remote MySQL.

3. Under the Add Access Host, in the Host text box, type the domain name or IP address of the host that you want to add.

Note: You can find your IP address by entering a query ‘What is my IP ‘ in search engine.

4. In the text box for Comment, you may add a comment to describe the remote host. This is optional.

5. Click on Add Host.

# Access your database remotely

After enabling host access, you can connect to your MySQL databases remotely by using MySQL client application.

# Steps to remove host access

When you don’t want a host to access you MySQL databases remotely, you can remove them by performing following steps :

1. Log in to cPanel.

2. On the cPanel home screen in the Databases section, click on Remote MySQL.

3. Under the Manage Access Hosts option, identify the host for which you want to remove the access, and then click on Delete.

4. Click on Remote Access Host. cPanel will remove the host.
